George Carlin

Its just sinking in to me now. George Carlin's dead. It really just breaks my heart.

What sucks is as I write these I'm listening to the song blurry by puddle of mud and its just making me so much sadder. I start to listen to dashboard by modest mouse when the song and the pain of Carlin's death just becomes too much to handle. Well that's all for now I need to read more stuff about George. We're making a tribute for him in our journal.

I loved ya george and I'm gonna miss you.

We are revamping an old journal founded by the late and great Joaquin po who also founded POpular Bookstore in the philippines (Joaquin was imprisoned during the marcos time they accused him of being a communist which he was not). Joaquin was a friend of my friend Poch Suzara. We asked the daughters who now run the bookstore if we could carry on with the Free thinkers Reader they agreed and put their full support on us. So we plan to release this on july.

It's going to be sold in popular bookstore and will also be sold at a grass roots level all over the world. If you would like to be a part of this journal called the free thinkers reader. Send me a message at joshualipana@yahoo.com. Specially if you can write.

A few hours ago a friend invited me to a conference not telling me it was sponsored by Crown Financial Ministries and was called "Gods Economy" oh she knew I was an atheist. Any way the meeting started out well I loathed what was being preached but was not offended until the minister(Former VP of apple 85-92) told stories about non-believers....He portrayed us as being untrustworthy and that we should be marginalized It was at this point that he's bigotry finally enraged me. I waited... And waited... And finally when it was time to submit questions I asked "What is your opinion on Jerry Falwell?"  Here was the dialogue

Minister: No thanks!

Joshua: Come on!

Minister: Is this a joke?

Joshua: No! Its very serious!

Minister: Well he was a follower of jesus and he built the moral majority to protect themselves from bullying by a small minority, I like him he defended his faith and fought for it. ( I was just shouting no he was a bigot thats no true!)

He continued with his defense of falwell and the moral majority for a while ignoring my follow ups. He was taken aback. Everyone was looking at me...With quite a bad look. I was a bit scared but i just could not stand back and let bigotry in this degree be glorified! I mean he was defending falwell! that war mongering bag of... Any way the minister was filled with bigotry although he had a very good persona typical feel good minister persona. No one noticed he's shots at non-believers but me (Since I was the only one in the crowd who was one.) At the end of the day I am appalled by the so called "moderate christians" who stand back and let such Christian conservative non-sense to be taught to people as truth. The crowd was eating of the palm of the minister. It was somewhat heartbreaking to see how powerful these people were for making mankind weaker. Ahh... When will we abolish this monstrosity of a religion... This worship of the non-existent and the dogma of unreason. I hope in a way I made an Impact I hope I made a little statement. The Christianity of the west is coming here people. Wake up! Campus harvest?! Gods Economy?! Ministers talking about the moral majority while insulting non-believers! The Theo-cons are here. And we who have not lost our minds are out numbered and need every little bit of help from other people who are sane.

I just woke up saw Anderson cooper 360 on CNN and lo and behold Obama has finally clinched the nomination. At the start of the campaign I was a big supporter of hillary because i really thought Bill Clinton's presidency was one of the best. 

I was a big fan of the top people in the Clinton administration. But Obama just gave one inspiring speech after another no one could withstand the bombardment of this kind he was inspirational he won me over eventually. But as I am somewhat Machiavellian I enjoyed seeing the true colors of the Clinton's I loved them for playing dirty once and a while and I do believe the Clinton's would have been better for the Dems but I'm glad that Obama got is as well I saw some of he's history in Illinois as a senator and he can play dirty when needed as well. But lets be honest... The Clinton's would have crushed McCain. Lets just hope Obama can keep his momentum to the general election. I like McCain and i agree with the Reps foreign policy. But the Republican party represent the interest of the Extreme religious right.

I'm actually still conflicted on the matter... I just really believe in the interventionist policies of McCain and his tough stance on terrorism but then again Maybe there is more progress with an Obama presidency... Right now I'm leaning to the left (Obama)...

It seems the The idiots who still espouse creationism are up to their dirty tricks again recently they edited an interview with the brilliant author and scientist Richard Dawkins to make him look like he got stumpped by their questions. Well all I have to say is Fuck you Creationist Ministries International and everyone else who participated in this act. Fuck you all. You people are preaching something that has absolutely no scientific support.. Your all idiots.

Last sunday towards the end of our atheist league meeting when it was me poch and john left me and poch had a little exchange of ideas. I agreed with the foreign policies of the bush administration and past american interventionist policies while poch disagreed vehemently. Poch saw america as a corrupt superpower which spreads war while i looked at it as the leader of the free world and the spreader of democracies. Take note we are both atheist's. After the meeting our exchange continued through text from 1am and resumed at 4 am.

Poch Suzara: And if japan and germany won WW2 the american president and military generals would all be hang as war criminals - you would call that a just war?

Joshua: Well me and chomsky would. the americans were not the aggressors and they were not the ones trying to exterminate races they viewed as inferior

Poch: So the vietnam war was a just war because the vietnamese people had no right to fight the americans because america is never the aggressor?

Josh: Vietnam was for me not a just war I completely agree with you there it was the height of american bullying

Poch: So americans killing each other during the civil war was a just war?

Josh: Yes the north fought the confedaracy because they wanted to free the slaves

Poch: So how come the indians and black americans still struggled for their civil rights to be treated as equals? Who made the money when americans were killing each other?

Josh: Civil Rights is a work in progress specially for us. The arms industry made was making the money. But to keep slavery just to keep arms dealer poor seems unfair. The north had no choice the south was composed with a bunch of fundamentalist slave owners

Josh: It was war or slavery

Poch: Slaves still exist in america though they are called laborers

Poch: Do you really believe the wealthy americans give a shit about the poor americans?

Josh: Tito Poch when did you join the communist party?

Poch: So a guy who disagrees with you is a member of the communist party?

Josh: Im kidding the poor is being oppressed everywhere but in democracies they have a real chance at a comfortable life I am pro-poor and i believe some countries go too far with oppressing their own people when that is happening i believe the goverment should be toppled

Poch: And war, my friend is mostly about the rich getting richer by keeping the poor poorer.

I Believe War is unfortunate but should be used to topple oppressive governments. The problem with the left is often times they defend the people who commit the most awful atrocities. During our meeting Poch defended the Germans and the japs in their crimes in WW2. The left has always been against America. What i have seen is in the case of Chomsky and other leftist's they are quick to point their finger at the United States of America when ever horrible event occurs in the world. War is unfortunate I agree with my friends in the left but to stand back and let The Nazis kill the jews and annihilate europe or allow the taliban to keep killing and torturing its own people in afganistan and allow other occurences just as awful to continue in the name of peace is to me the height of liberal cowardice.

If ever people do decide to examine the history of the Christian religion people would realize that in almost every social issue the church has always been consistently against progress they were for slavery, against woman’s rights, against science medicine and proper education.

It is starling to see that so many people have forgotten the exploits of the church century’s back. The crusades where hundreds of thousands of people were killed including their own soldiers which were sometimes made up of children because the pope wanted a piece of land back. The inquisition which lasted for 500 years is where they killed and tortured anyone who was not with the Roman Catholic Church. The witch trials which was started by the Catholics and was perfected by the protestants where they burned women who they accused of being witches children as young as 5 were burned to death because of this movement. So please before you say Jesus or the Christian religion is good for society and promotes peace please look back at the history of this very deceiving religion.
